Funding for Learning and Development in the Social Care workforce.

Increasingly employers or learners will be expected to contribute to the cost of training for their staff particularly at level 3 and above.  However, a number of sources do exist to support employers in social care and Care Partnerships are able to signpost employers through the funding maze.

Social Care Specific National Training Strategy Grant To be distributed through area grants via local area agreements. WQP and CCC Social Care Development Centre provide training paid for or subsidised by this grant. 

All Sectors

Skills for Life

Through local skills for life provider

Entitlement to all for skills for life to level 2 at no cost for literacy and numeracy.  An employer contribution of £173 is required for ESOL

Train to Gain

Skills for life, First full level 2, Level 3*, level 4 for those without a level 3*, Leadership and management. 

Core Learner responsive

Gateway or direct to Training provider

Mainly courses on the learning aims database

Apprenticeships 16 – 25 and 25+

*Employer contribution required for those without a first level 2 qualification.  Second level 3’s are now funded where employers contribute
